CALCUTTA - President Holly Phares welcomed members of the Calcutta Lions Club and District Governor Jeff Snyder from the Magnolia Lions Club to the Oct. 12 meeting held at the Peter Metrovich Community Center.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the invocation was given by Paul Metrovich.
Dinner was provided by Betty Patterson and Bob Hay.

The program was provided by Snyder, who discussed his goals for the Lions clubs this year, including a plus-two increase in membership in each club and a plus-one increase in the number of service projects conducted by each club.
He inducted the following members into the Calcutta Lions Club: Brenda Damaso, Teresa Ollis, Dawn Van Dorn and Bill Swickard. Snyder also presented an award to Linda Metrovich for sponsoring 10 members.
Metrovich gave the secretary-treasurer's report, including the minutes of the Sept. 28 meeting. He also announced that Second Vice District Governor John Woodside from the Jackson Township Lions Club will make an official visit Nov. 9.
Under old business, Linda Metrovich reported that the Steeler Raffle was a huge success. Snyder drew the winning ticket, which was Jenn Beaver's. She purchased her ticket at the Four Seasons Mini Mart in Calcutta.
Phares announced that club members would be assisting the Beaver Local School District nurse with eye screenings for first and third grade students and in Rogers Wednesday and in Calcutta on Oct. 29. This is an annual service project of the Calcutta club.
Under new business, the club members discussed participation in the East Liverpool Christmas parade. Members also approved a craft show to be held at Calcutta Square the weekend before Mother's Day. Joan Dodds will be in charge.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Peter Metrovich Community Center. Persons interested in opportunities to serve their community are invited to attend. Call 330-385-4405 for more information.
