LISBON - Achieving excellence is not something that happens overnight. For the Crossroads Assisted Living Facility, it didn't happen overnight, but it did happen in a short period of time.

Only two years ago, Bill and Vicki Holden developed the facility on property located on Echo Dell Road. The 54-unit facility offers a therapy center, home cooked meals, housekeeping, transportation to local events, emergency call staff response, personal care assistance, and an on-site physician's office. Several other services are also offered, as well as amenities, which include a gift shoppe, chapel, screen room, spa, and Chatter Box Coffeehouse.

Crossroads residents expressed their appreciation for the facility through a state-issued survey that had been sent to assisted living facilities across Ohio. Of the 558 residential care facilities that participated, Crossroads was rated in the top 25.

A Recognition of Excellence Ceremony sponsored by the St. Clair Township Area Chamber of Commerce was held at the facility Tuesday, and several area leaders were in attendance.

Lori Kline, Chamber of Commerce executive director, said it's "pretty amazing" the facility has already rated in the top 25 since it has only been in the area two years.

Joseph Rossi, CEO of District 11 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., was present to congratulate the Holdens. He said he could tell just from walking through the door that the facility deserved the honor.

"I saw the staff all had smiles on their faces," he said. "They welcomed you into their home."

Columbiana County Commissioner Penny Traina was also present to congratulate the Holdens, and also to present the facility with a proclamation county commissioners signed April 21. Traina said she had her own private tour of the facility and was very pleased.

"Today is really special," she told Vicki Holden, as she presented the signed proclamation.

Chamber President Roger Sanford then presented Vicki Holden with the certificate of excellence.

Bill and Vicki Holden wished to express their gratitude to several in attendance, including Lori Kline, Joe Rossi, Penny Traina, Fred and Melissa Emmerling, and facility residents and staff.

"We consider it an honor to serve our seniors," Vicki Holden said. "Crossroads was a huge project."

Vicki Holden told the residents, "You are a blessing to us. We are all better by knowing you."

She then dedicated the award to facility employees, stating, "I appreciate the love you give."

Crossroads Assisted Living Facility is located at 13280 Echo Dell Road, and can be contacted at 330-385-2211.
