Columbiana County Sheriff for 1-2
Kevin Zimmerly, state Route 644, Hanoverton, called for a deputy at 5 a.m. Friday after being awakened by a ruckus, only to find two people had broken into his home and were attacking his son. The suspects, one of whom was identified as the ex-boyfriend of his son's girlfriend, left when Zimmerly intervened but they returned a short while later to resume the fight. Afterwards, the suspects fled into the woods.
A woman who lives on Spillway Road, Guilford Lake, called for a deputy at 4 a.m. Friday to report her granddaughter had run away during the night.
Anita Null, Winona Road, Salem, reported hearing her neighbor come home at 3:54 a.m. Friday and then inquired if everything was alright, which it was. Then a neighbor woman came to her door and Null could hear a tape-recorder playing and directing threats, so she didn't open the door. The deputy spoke to the neighbor who said she only went next door to see what Null wanted, and no tape recorder was involved.
A report was received of people shooting firearms at midnight New Year's Eve on Metz Road in Fairfield Township. A deputy spoke to the suspects, who denied doing any such thing.
Abby Kay of Beafort, S.C., called for a deputy to her mother's home on Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, at 8:20 p.m. Monday in regard to a domestic situation. No threats or assaults occurred.
