EAST LIVERPOOL - Keith R. Shaw, 80, of Cartwright Street, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at 4:15 a.m. at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in East Liverpool, June 6, 1929, he was a son of the late John R. and Opal Anthony Shaw. A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Campground Community Church, where he taught the Cornerstone Sunday school class for 23 years. An elder of the church for nearly 30 years, he was recently named the elder emeritus of the church. He was also an ordained minister.
He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for BOC Gas Company until retiring in 1992 after 17 years of service. Previously, he worked for Goodyear and Firestone in East Liverpool.
He was a member of the Area Seniors and served the organization as president at one time, he also was a member of the Campground Seniors, Tri-Angle Senior Citizens and 30/30 Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Drake Shaw, whom he married Feb. 23, 1948.
There are three daughters, Carol Van Sickle, and her husband Glenn, of Oxford, Pa., Karen Giovenco, and her husband Victor, of Lisbon, and Pam Johnson, and her husband Frank, of Gavers; along with three sons, James R. Shaw, and his wife Linda, of Chester, Michael K. Shaw, and his wife Lillian, and Edward Shaw, and his wife Betty, all of East Liverpool.
A sister survives, Janet Gamble, as well as a brother Donald Shaw, and his wife Barbara, all of East Liverpool.
In addition, there are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jenkins, and a brother, Lloyd Shaw.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Delmar Logston will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Campground Community Church for further remembrance.
