Jenna Lou Carnes, 67

GREENFIELD, Ohio - Yesterday, Dec. 20, 2009, a patient and gallant lady went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, and her loved ones after living with MS since 1985. She will be remembered with love by her family, friends and past students.

Jenna Lou Carnes was born Jan, 28, 1942, to the late Paul and Edith (Fuller) Ransdell in Ross County, Ohio. She graduated valedictorian of her class in 1960 from Buckskin. She attended Ohio University and majored in vocational Home Economics. She received her Masters from OU in 1966. Jenna began teaching in Xenia, Ohio, and retired form Chillicothe High School in June 1990 after 25 years. Teaching was her life and first great interest.

She was married to Jon David Carnes on Aug. 18, 1968. He went home on July 7, 2004, after caring for Jenna for several years.

Jenna was a member, Sunday School teacher and clerk of session for the Concord Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Ohio. She was also a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Ross County Farm Bureau and Phi Upsilon Omicron (National Honor Society in Family & Consumer Sciences).

Jenna leaves behind many cousins, to name a few: Janice Knisley, Sandy Free, Jim McDaniels and Bill Ickinger and her friend Judy Miller and her family.

Services will be held at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home, 380 Jefferson Street, Greenfield, Ohio, on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Todd Thomas of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. and at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Concord Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Ohio.
