Columbiana County Sheriff for 12-17
Cory M. Heaton, 39, state Route 518, Lisbon, was driving on state Route 11 in Madison Township at 7:41 a.m. Sunday when he went over an icy overpass, causing the Direct TV van he was driving to spin off the road and overturn on its side. Heaton was uninjured.
Adam Lodge, 18, Rochester Road, East Rochester, was charged with theft Saturday evening for stealing money and a camera from several vehicles parked at the former West Elementary School in East Rochester. Charges also are expected to be filed in county juvenile court against his alleged accomplice - a 15-year old boy. The vehicles belonged to Joyce Loudon and Jill and Eve Whiteleather. Earlier in the evening, a deputy had been called to a home on Canal Street, East Rochester, after George Pitre found Lodge and the juvenile on his property. Pitre didn't wish to pursue charges, however.
An official with the Negley Volunteer Fire Department reported nearly $6,000 in equipment and tools were stolen from the fire station between Nov. 16 and Dec. 11. Firefighters noticed when they tried to locate a chainsaw. There was no sign of forced entry. The missing items include tools, toolboxes, two chainsaws, bolt cutters, flashlights, portable generator, and assorted radio equipment.
An East Palestine woman reported at 6:15 p.m. Monday that she was being harassed by a man she knows at her storage units on state Route 14. She said he pulled his vehicle across the driveway while she was there and blocked her in, then started blowing his horn. She reported having a civil matter with him earlier in the year.
A Salem woman on U.S. Route 62 reported Monday that she received a call from a man who threatened to go to her house, trash her residence and blow it up. She told deputies he had been arrested at her house earlier in the day, was upset and blamed her and claimed she owed him for the bond money he had to pay to get out of jail. She didn't want to go home until someone checked the residence. A deputy drove to the residence and said it appeared fine. There was no sign of the man.
