John R. Andrews, 83

GEORGETOWN, Pa. - John R. Andrews, 83, of State Route No. 168, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at the Medical Center of Beaver County following a lengthy illness.

Born in New Cumberland, W.Va., June 20, 1926, a son of the late Charles and May Andrews, he was a lifetime area resident.

In 1994 he retired after owning and operating his own excavating business in the local area.

He was a member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church as well as the Southside Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 66.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death Dec. 15, 2002, by his wife, Ruth Ann Andrews, whom he married July 3, 1952.

Surviving is a son, John "Jack" Andrews and his wife, Hope, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

There are three grandchildren, Rachael, Jacob, and Elizabeth Andrews, all of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Also surviving are a sister, Bertha Lemperly of Vero Beach, Fla., and a brother, Wayne Andrews of Plano, Texas.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Mabel Kennedy; and two brothers, Charles "Bill" Andrews and Harold "Mike" Andrews.

Pastor Wilmer Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Burial is to be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
