CHESTER - Jacob C. "Jake" Geer, 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at the Weirton Medical Center.
Son of the late Floyd and Helen Zebula Geer, he was born on June 4, 1943 in New Cumberland.
After graduating from Wells High School, Jake spent 33 years at Weirton Steel, were he was a brakeman on the railroad.
He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an avid Steelers fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Geer.
Surviving at home is his loving wife, Sarah Diddle Geer, whom he married on July 16, 1993. He also leaves one son, Jacob C. Geer, Jr., of Delaware; two daughters, Faithe (Blair) Brant and Charlie Hall, both of N.C.; and three sisters, Anna (Nick) Dennis, of Pennsylvania., Liz (Earl) Radtke, of Maryland and Josephine (Bill) Laughlin, of Hookstown. Survivors also include five step-sons, Michael Shroades of Alabama., Bradley Shroades of Newell, Chris Hall and Mike Hall of Texas, and Dennis Hall of Kentucky; two step-daughters, Morgan (Michael) Lawley of Georgia and Debbie Hall of Kentucky; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Zalene, Zane, Brooke, Mikey, Devon, Sarah, Bradley, and Linda; and one great-grandchild, Bretton.
Rev. Father Eric Antwi will be the celebrant for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel where the family will be present from noon to 8 p.m., with a Liturgy of the word held at 7:30 p.m.
