A dog disturbing cats and dogs owned by Angela Pennycoff was reportedly shot and killed accidentally on 8th Avenue Sunday around 7 p.m. Shannon Shupp of 8th Avenue reported the dog dead on her property Sunday. Shupp reportedly stated that she was outside talking on her cell phone when she saw the dog lying dead at the bottom of her driveway. Shupp also stated she heard dogs barking loudly in the neighborhood and a single gunshot over the hillside. An officer responding to the residence of the complaint observed the dog and noticed that it was dead and had blood all over its paws. The dog was part pitbull and had no visible tags of ownership. The officer responding to the incident then left the Shupp residence and arrived at the residence of William Price and Angela Pennycoff, to inquire if they had any knowledge of an injured dog or a gunshot that was heard by neighbors on the hillside. Pennycoff reportedly stated that she heard a commotion outside of the residence and noticed a dog chasing her two cats under her front porch and then the dog began fighting with her dogs that had been chained to their boxes in the front yard. Pennycoff said she retrieved a .22-caliber rifle and fired one round in the direction of the dog. Pennycoff reportedly added that she did not believe she had struck the dog at the time, and that it left her property barking. The officer informed Pennycoff that the dog was indeed dead and lying in a neighbor's driveway. Williams Price reportedly offered to collect the dog and give it a proper burial.
Devon Durflinger of Township Road 32 was reportedly charged with FRA and non-compliance Sunday at 8 a.m. after he busted the windows out of his vehicle on state Route 7 North. Durflinger reportedly stated he busted the windows out because he was angry that one of the tires had blown out. Durflinger added that it was the seventh tire to blow out on the vehicle in the space of three months. The officer noticed that the vehicle's license plates were also expired. Durflinger's vehicle was then towed from the scene by Calcutta Towing. Wellsville Police were also at the scene. Durflinger and two other passengers of the vehicle were advised to remove their possessions from the vehicle before it was towed. The officer stated that the vehicle was unable to be secured at the impound lot because the windows had been busted out.
Marsha Watson of Ambrose Avenue reported that someone hit her red 1999 Pontiac Sunfire while it was parked on Anderson Boulevard between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. Nov. 11. Her son Vince Watson reported that an unidentified individual struck the car damaging the whole left side of the car and breaking the mirror off. An officer responding to the report looked over the damage and checked the Dixonville area to see if any other vehicles had missing mirrors. Upon determining that no other cars had been damaged, the officer took Watson's insurance information.
Jayson Jackson of McClain Road reported that his cell phone had been stolen out of his vehicle Sunday around 6:30 p.m.
Earnest Hayes of 5th Avenue reported that $451 had been stolen from his mother's residence sometime during the weekend. Hayes reportedly stated that his mother had been transported to the hospital Saturday evening around 8 p.m. and that she and his father did not return to the residence until Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Sometime during that time someone had reportedly broken into the residence through the back door and stolen the money, Hayes reportedly stated. An officer on the scene noticed that the rear door had been pried at the bottom by the door jamb. The door also appeared slightly twisted and misaligned. The officer asked Hayes if anything else was missing from the residence. Upon searching, nothing else was found stolen. The officer was unable to lift fingerprints from the door due to its course and textured surface.
