EL girl won tickets to see Miley Cyrus
By KATIE SCHWENDEMAN/kschwendeman@reviewonline.comEAST LIVERPOOL - Last month Bob Duffy and his family decided to eat dinner at O'Charley's in Boardman. Little did they know that they would be eating there every Wednesday for the next four weeks, thanks to HOT 101 FM radio based out of Youngstown.
On the night that Bob, his wife Michelle and his seven-year-old daughter Emily stopped at O'Charley's, the radio station was there as part of a promotional campaign they were doing for an upcoming Miley Cyrus concert. Anyone eating at the restaurant every Wednesday night for four weeks improved their chances of winning tickets to see Miley Cyrus in concert at the Cleveland Quicken Loans Arena, as well as dinner at O'Charley's via limousine escort. The limousine would pick up the winner at their home and then transport them to the restaurant, and later the concert. After the concert the limousine would then transport the winner back home.
Bob Duffy said the first night that he and his family went to O'Charley's and found out what was going on, his daughter asked if they could get involved in the drawing. Four weeks and several drawings later, Emily's chances of winning the tickets kept getting better. "We finally came to the last week and Emily had three entries out of 25 in the box. They drew the first six entries to eliminate them, and one by one DJ AC announced the names. Finally, at 6:30 p.m. it was announced that Emily Duffy was the grand prize winner," Duffy said. The final drawing took place Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Emily won four tickets to the concert, and was picked up by a limousine at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at her home. She was then taken to O'Charley's for dinner and then to Quicken Loans Arena for the concert that started at 7 p.m.
According to Duffy, when Emily realized she was grand prize winner, she acted like someone who was going to see The Beatles. "She screamed when she won. This is big time for her," he said.
