EAST LIVERPOOL POLICE FOR 11-15

POSTED: November 15, 2009

On Thursday at 5:34 p.m., officers went to Woodland Hills along Wilbert Avenue and found a resident had put out a small brush fire with buckets of water. The fire department arrived to make sure the fire was completely extinguished. According to the report, the fire was started by a group of juveniles playing with matches. The officer talked to a juvenile about the danger in playing with matches.

On Friday at 5:18 a.m., officers went to a Michigan Street home after a 10-year old female said when she woke up, her mother was not at home, and the juvenile was alone with a 5-year-old male. The female juvenile told officers her mother was home when she went to bed earlier in the evening. The mother was not answering her cell phone. A grandmother arrived and told officers the children are left home alone all the time, and she has called Children Services, but nothing was done. The children were released to the juvenile girl's step-mother who also agreed to take the male juvenile. A female pitt bull was also inside the home. A police report was sent to Children Services.

On Friday at 11:26 p.m., officers assisted the Humane Society at 705 Oakland Ave. on a complaint of flea-infested dogs inside the home, and children inside the home being exposed to animal feces scattered throughout. No feces were found, but the report indicates the home was in deplorable condition. The matter was referred to Children Services.

On Saturday at 12:42 a.m., an officer found Eric S. McLaughlin, 41, walking up Market Street with blood over his head and face. McLaughlin said he did not know why he was bleeding. While talking to officers, a dispatcher advised a call came in from 312 Market St. advising McLaughlin was there and broke a window. Connie L. Conzett, 33, told officers McLaughlin became angry when she would not let him inside her home. He reportedly slammed his head against a screen door several times and then put his head through a side window. At the emergency room, McLaughlin was belligerent, shouted profanities, demanded to leave and refused treatment, according to the report. He was charged with obstructing official business.

On Saturday at 9:40 a.m., officers went to the 900-block of St. Clair Avenue after a report of two males throwing bottles in the middle of the roadway. One male with the last name of Anderson said he two got into an argument because the other male, with the last name of Thompson, wants to sleep and hang out at his residence but doesn't want to pay rent. Thompson was removed, and Anderson was made to clean up the glass in the street.

On Saturday at 2:40 p.m., Willis Johnston, 81, went to the police station and said while he was attending an Emanuel Presbyterian Church dinner at 767 Park Blvd., someone removed his jacket containing his car keys. He told officers he waited for approximately one hour, but no one returned the jacket or keys. He was advised by his insurance agent to file a police report.
