EAST LIVERPOOL - Mary E. Reed Barry, 91, passed peacefully early Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2009, at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Daughter of the late Josiah and Sarah Lord Wedgewood, she was born on July 9, 1918 in Chester, W.Va.

A lifetime resident of Chester, Mary attended Chester High School before beginning work for C.A. Smith at both Hill Crest Farms and his private residence and had also worked as a cook at the former French's Restaurant.

She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church where she was active in the Alter Guild, Lady's Guild, Vestry and Cluster Council of Brooke-Hancock Counties as well as the church's outreach program.

Mary was a 50 year member of the East Liverpool Moose Lodge #642, having held all offices including College Regents and Academy of Friendship.

Preceding her in death was her first husband, Arthur B. Reed, in 1963; her second husband, Rev. Raymond R. Barry, in 1979, who served at St Matthews; two brothers, Jess and William Wedgewood; two sisters, Florence Smith and Eliza Rose; grandson, James Reed, Jr.; daughter-in-law Phylis Reed and a son-in-law, James A. Sayre.

Survivors include three sons, Rev. James Reed, of Newell, Howard (Patricia) Reed, of Bowling Green, Ky. and Jess (Shirley) Reed, of New Cumberland; two sisters, Virginia "Pat" (Donald) Vuletic, of East Liverpool and Mary E. Sayre, of Chester.

Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, MaryAnn (Tom) Zajac, Donald (Judy) Vuletic, Donna (Brian) Caldwell, Jeffrey (Lori) Reed, Susan (Jeff) Natcher, Pam Curtis, Robert (Kim) Sayre, Cindy (Dale) Lightbody, Scott (Nancy) Reed, Todd (Ashlee) Reed, Jennifer (Sam) Batman and Brian Sayre.

Rev. Gene Shepherd, Missioner for Brooke-Hancock Episcopal Ministries, will officiate services at 11a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
