CALCUTTA - William B. "Bill" Stauffer, 78, of Dale Street, passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at his home following a recent illness.
Mr. Stauffer was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of the late William and Pearl (Walters) Stauffer and had lived in the East Liverpool area his entire life.
Bill was a welder for the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pa, retiring in 1982. He along with his wife, Helen also owned and operated, Stauffer's Home for Ladies, an elder care facility, until 1993.
Mr. Stauffer was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church; the Moose Lodge of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and was an avid traveler and camper.
Bill also enjoyed restoring houses and antique cars.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Helen (Weis) Stauffer, whom he married Nov. 12, 1965; daughter, Sandra (Gary) Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Charles (Linda) Stauffer of East Palestine; brothers, Ronald (Donna) Stauffer of East Liverpool and Charles (Jewel) Stauffer of Lisbon; stepsons, Mark and Ronnie Stanford, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 235 West 5th St., East Liverpool, with Father Peter Haladaj officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Monday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home, 215 West Lincoln Way, Lisbon.
