Sunday J. DeCapio, 88November 14, 2009CHESTER - Sunday J. DeCapio, 88, of Chester, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Georgetown, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Feola) DeCapio. Sunday was a retired Maintenance Burner for Crucible Steel. He served on the Chester City Council from July 1994 to June 2006; a member of the Scared Heart Catholic Church of Chester, and a former social member of the Chester V.F.W. He was a hunter and an avid gardener and his produce was enjoyed by many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice L. (Marshall) DeCapio; a brother, Tony DeCapio; and three sisters, Marie Rockhold, Lucy Enders and Julia Volino. Surviving are two sons, Samuel (Norina) DeCapio of New Cumberland and Terry (Gail) DeCapio of Kentucky; a daughter, Debbie (Jamie) Martin of Lisbon; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Frank DeCapio of Chester; three sisters, Rose Volino of East Liverpool, Josephine Carlier of Chester and Mary Gordon of California. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Family hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Scared Heart Catholic Church of Chester, conducted by the Rev. Father Lino Ebenjer. The interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester. |
