EAST LIVERPOOL - Surrounded by his loving family, John E. Horner lost his battle from complications of Hodgkins Disease on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. He was born in East Liverpool on Oct. 3, 1942, a son of the late Elzie Horner and Clea (Shields) Weber.
Living his entire life in this area, John was a truck driver for BOC, retiring in 2002. He loved to ride his motorcycles, but not as much as he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
His wife, Dianne (Rickerd) Horner, whom he married on Dec. 8, 1962, survives him at home.
Three daughters: Tawnie McDaniel and her husband, Matt of East Liverpool, Julie Bryson and her husband, Bob of Wellsville and Penny Pike and her husband, Marty of East Liverpool; one brother: Charles Horner and his wife, Tammy of Virginia; two sisters: Janet Wood and her husband, Bud of South Carolina and Evelyn Morehead and her husband, Ed of East Liverpool; six grandchildren: Keri Price and her husband, Chris, Jonathan McDaniel, Erica Bryson, Jeb Pike, Katie McDaniel and Taylor Pike; three great grandchildren: Piper McDaniel, Linken Price and Leeland Price as well as his five canine companions: Jerome, Harley, Georgie, Missy and Daisy survive him.
Besides his parents, his grandmother whom raised him, Minnie Horner, and two sisters: Eloise Mathes and Sandy Masters preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 16, 2009, at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes with Pastor Norman Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at the funeral home in Calcutta.
