WELLSVILLE Albert J. Siers, 82, of Mick Road died Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, 2009, at his home.
Born April 3, 1927, in Hollidays Cove, W.Va., a son of the late Henry H. and Esther Siers, he lived 62 years in the area.
In 1982 he retired from the former Crucible Steel Co. after more than 35 years of service. He had worked in the cold strip and in the axle mill at one time.
A veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, he served with the Third Army in Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Siers on Oct. 24, 1986.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Bucher, and her husband, Jerry, of Twinsburg, Ohio; and a son, Robert J. Siers, and his wife, Joy, of Toronto, Ohio.
There are four grandchildren, Catherine Beck, and her husband, Agustus; Sandy Vazquez, and her husband, Jose; Dave J. Siers; and Craig R. Siers, and his wife, Angie. There are four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Laveda Starkey of Mercer, Pa., and Eva Lanham of Florida.
A brother, Henry H. Siers, preceded him in death.
The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home.
Private burial is to be at Columbiana County Memorial Park, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
