Wilfred D. “Wilf” Morgan, 84
WELLSVILLE - Wilfred D. "Wilf" Morgan, 84, of Wellsville, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Allegheny General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Wellsville, the son of the late William and Anna (Grimm) Morgan.
Wilf graduated from Wellsville High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II in the Pacific Region. He was a crane operator for Republic Steel and LTV Steel before retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 70, the Elks Lodge 1040, a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alliance, past president of the Lexington Ruritans, and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wellsville.
Wilf was preceded in death on Aug. 4, 1991, by his first wife, Peggy Morgan, whom he married Jan. 25, 1948.
Survivors include his second wife, Dorothy (Hunter) Morgan of Wellsville, whom he married Dec. 26, 1993; one daughter: Linda Dillon and her husband Mike of Alliance; one son: Lindsay Morgan of Alliance; two step-daughters: Toby Welch and her husband Pat of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Tina Jarvis of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Sirianni, Rachel (Matt) Thomas, Shawn (Jennifer) Dillon, Aaron (Trisha) Dillon, Michael (Ticia) Dillon, Bryan Morgan, and Mark Morgan; five step-grandchildren: Amanda Welch, Adam (Monica) Welch, Michael Welch, Eamon Welch, and Emerick Jarvis; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Wilf was also preceded in death by two brothers: Edward and Dean Morgan; and one step-son: Todd Weekley.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St., Wellsville, with Pastor Bruce Ballantine officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, Ohio.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Wilf's name to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 405 18th Street, Wellsville, Ohio 43968.
