Thomas Perorazio
EAST LIVERPOOL - On Aug. 21, 2009, Thomas E. Perorazio successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in the policy studies program within the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan. His dissertation is entitled "Curiousity and Commericialization: Faculty Perspectives on Sponsored Research, Academic Science and Research Agendas." He completed his Ph.D. requirements with the Rackham School of Graduate Studies on Aug. 28, and his degree will be conferred on Dec. 20, 2009 during Winter Commencement ceremonies. Dr. Thomas E. Perorazio is the son of Carmen J. and Mary Ann Perorazio of East Liverpool, and Shirley Perorazio of Columbus, Ohio.
Emily Householder
CALCUTTA - Emily Householder of Calcutta was chosen as the Calcutta Rotary's student of the month for October for her involvement in community service.
Her community activities include Girl Scouts PA at camp, community theatre, Girl Scouts regional delegate, Girl Scouts National delegate, Girl Scouts girl advisory board, First Christian VBS, First Christian youth group activities, and First Christian church missionary kids.
School activities include Interact Club, Student Council Secretary, Ohio Future Educators of America, morning announcements, football game announcer, academic challenge, varsity envirothon team captain, mock trial and Beaver Local varsity spirit club.
Sara Fazikas
GREENE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Sara Fazikas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fazikas, of Georgetown, Greene Township, Pa., is a senior at South Side High School. She has been selected as the October student of the month by the South Side Education Association.
During her high school career, Fazikas has been in the gifted program, a member of American Mensa, National Honor Society, and received the NHS Leadership Award. She was a class officer in her freshman and sophomore years. For four years, she has been a member of the South Side High School marching band and a drum major for three years. She is the vice president of the World Affairs Club and actively participates in Model EU, UN, and Arab League.
After graduation, Fazikas plans to attend Duquesne University for six years and major in pharmacy.
Alexandria Stewart
GREENE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Alexandria Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stewart, of Georgetown, Greene Township, Pa., is a senior at South Side High School. She has been selected the September student of the month by the South Side Education Association.
Stewart is the current Senior Class Co-Treasurer, Student Council Secretary, and National Honor Society member. During her high school career, she earned three academic letters, and three softball letters.
She is a current member of the newspaper staff and yearbook staff.
After graduation, she plans to attend a college and major in either Architecture or Engineering and minor in Art.

Technology Dean's List
EAST LIVERPOOL - The following students have been named to the Dean's List at Ohio Valley College of Technology for the summer 2009-B semester concluding Oct. 23. To qualify for the Dean's List, students are required to achieve a semester average of 3.75 or greater on a 4.00 scale while maintaining full-time enrollment status. Those students are Jeanne Banicki, Negley; Paul Barney, Salineville; Victoria MacAleese, Salem; and Toni Rutan, East Liverpool.
