CALCUTTA - The Parkinson Support Group of Calcutta will be hosting Dr. Bruce Jeffries, O.D. as guest speaker of its monthly meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday at Calcutta Christian Church on Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road.

Jeffries is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Optometry with additional residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation/Ocular Disease. He is currently employed at Eyecare Associates.

Jeffries will be addressing vision issues in relation to Parkinson Disease. After his presentation there will be a question and answer period. Anyone suffering from Parkinson disease and family and friends are invited to attend.

It covers such subjects as defensive driving techniques, age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Participants may qualify for a discount with auto insurance. CALCUTTA - The Columbiana County Red Cross, in conjunction with the Alleghenies Blood Service Region, will conduct the following blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Calcutta YMCA in the gym. EAST LIVERPOOL - Ohio Valley Tea Party, Columbiana County Tea Party and Pink Slip Express will conduct the first "rally to give notice of termination to our elected officials" at 6 p.m. Monday at East Liverpool Middle School. Speakers will cover topics including, estate "death" tax, health care reform, the Constitution and the national "Tea Party Patriot" movement. There will be question and answer periods and an open mic forum.

NEW CUMBERLAND - The first meeting of Hancock County's Pre-k Collaborative Team is Friday. Day care, preschool and early childhood agencies located in Hancock County that service four-year children may participate in development of Hancock County's WV Pre-k Plan for the 2010-11 school year.
