EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Area Alumni Band is starting the new season. Practice will take place from 7-8 p.m. on Monday at the East Liverpool Alumni Clocktower. Practices are usually the first and third Mondays of each month. All area alumni are invited to join. We currently have members representing the three local states.

EAST LIVERPOOL - A spaghetti dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Heights United Brethren in Christ Church. The benefit dinner is being held for Bryan Veglia and family. He recently lost his wife (Tina Veglia) to brain cancer and has three children to care for and is in need of a home to live in. n LISBON - Help Hotline Crisis Center's support group of the Survivors of Suicide, in Columbiana County, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Columbiana County Counseling Center, on state Route 154. CHESTER - The VFW Post 6450 Ladies and Mens Auxilary is announcing the second annual Buddy Poppy Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkins can be picked up from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Chester Post 6450 VFW in the parking lot. The judging will be at noon on Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be a $5 donation per pumpkin and 10 buddy poppies per pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded for creativity and originality. 1st place will receive $60, second place $25, and third place $15. Ages for the contest are 4-12. This is a fun way to introduce the youngsters and their families to "The Buddy Poppy Program" that supports the veterans throughout the year.
