Paul J. Fugitt, 85

EAST LIVERPOOL - Paul J. Fugitt, 85, of East Liverpool, formerly of Industry, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born May 1, 1924, in Gallup, Ky., a son of the late Paul Moffit and Pauline McClure Fugitt.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1943 until 1950, Paul toured the Pacific Theater, receiving numerous medals and citations. He was a member of the American Legion Post 481 Midland and several other Navy and veteran organizations. Paul retired from Crucible Steel Colt Industries, Westinghouse and as maintenance supervisor of the Highland Apartments, East Liverpool.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Deem; brothers, Bill, Wendell and Larry Fugitt; and by a sister, Catherine Pigg.

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Doris Lean Spradlin Fugitt; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Donald Deem, Ester and Henry Price, all of Industry, Wandra and Albert Buckenheimer, Ohioville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Fugitt, Ashland, Ky., Glen Fugitt, Fla.; sisters, Virginia Moore Hylton, Louisa, Ky., Roberta VanGundy, Gallipolis, Ohio, Frances Damron, Grove City, Ohio and Estellene Webb, Ashland, Ky.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the D.L. Williams Funeral Home, 848 Midland Ave., Midland, Pa.; where a service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday. The Rev. Ric Raines, pastor of Fairview Reformed Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ohioville.

Full military rites will be conducted by members of the Honor Guard American Legion Post 481 Midland.
