Ethel W. Beabout, 80

HOOKSTOWN - Ethel W. Beabout, 80 of N. Washington Street, Hookstown, died at Essex of Salem on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, following a brief illness. She was born in East Liverpool on Oct. 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Jesse and Gertrude (Pollitt) Bailey.

Living her entire life in this area, she worked as a stamper at Homer Laughlin China for 18 years before her retirement in 1962. She was a member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church and lovingly referred to as "The Church Grandma."

Her husband, Kenneth S. Beabout died on Jan. 2, 2000. They were married on May 26, 1950.

One son: Brian Beabout and his wife, Loreen of Salem; one daughter: Carla McCandless of Lisbon; as well as four grandchildren: Chelsea Beabout, Aaron Beabout, Lucas Beabout and Baylee McCandless survive her.

Besides her parents and husband, one brother: Lloyd Bailey and three sisters: Jennie Cochran, Emma Cornell and Edna Maxwell preceded her in death.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Wilmer J. Olszewski of the church officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Beaver Mausoleum in Beaver.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m.
