RIDGELAND, S.C. - Douglas Michael "Uncle Bug" Reed Jr., 31, formerly of Hammondsville, died suddenly at his home in Ridgeland, S.C., on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009. He was born in Steubenville on Dec. 14, 1977, a son of Douglas Michael and Mollie K. (Thrasher) Reed, Sr. of Hammondsville.

Moving to South Carolina in 2004, he worked as a Security Guard for Alpha Genesis Research. He was a 1996 graduate of Edison Local High School and served with the U.S. Army from 1996 to 1999.

Besides his parents, his companion: Bobbie Jo Moralee of Ridgeland, S.C.; one brother: Marcus Reed and his companion Amy Swartz of Summitville, Ohio; two sisters: Michelle Webster and her husband Terry of Salineville and Sheri Cronin and her husband Jason of Hammondsville; as well as nieces and nephews: Hope Cronin, Alexis Cronin, Marcus Reed and Ava Reed survive him.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Private family graveside services will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hammondsville at the convenience of the family.
