Common Pleas for 8-9

August 9, 2009
The Review

A Florida resident pleaded guilty to selling drugs while he lived in Columbiana County.

Denny Cornman, 30, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., pleaded guilty in county Common Pleas Court to trafficking in drugs, which was reduced from a third degree felony to a fourth degree felony as part of a plea deal reached with county prosecutor's office. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 2.

Cornman admitted to selling cocaine in the vicinity of the former East Fairfield Market, state Route 7, Fairfield Township, in July 2006.

In other court action, Timothy Hackney, 46, Butcher Road, Leetonia, was sentenced to five years' probation for stealing from his employer - a Wendy's restaurant - in 2007. As part of his probation, Hackney was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $1,450.

A continuance has been granted in the case of Alicia L. Jamen, 22, of Butler, Pa., who was scheduled to go on trial today for endangering children and child abuse involving her 2-year-old daughter. A status hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28, at which time a new trial date will likely be scheduled.
