COMMON PLEAS FOR 7-11
An East Liverpool man was arraigned Friday for transporting drugs in a detention facility.
Gary L. Ridgley, 29, of 334 Wood Alley, was sentenced to a one year prison term in the Lorain Correctional Institution for illegally conveying prohibited items onto a detention institution. He was issued 13 days credit by Judge C. Ashley Pike.
According to court records, Ridgley had in his possession four different types of drugs that included Lorazepam, Zanaflex, Trazodone and Carisoprodol on Oct. 22, 2008. Lorazepam, intended to treat anxiety can be used to achieve a high while Trazodone can be used to treat depression and anxiety as well. Zanaflex and Carisoprodol is a muscle-relaxant.
Also at the Common Pleas Court, an East Palestine man entered into a felony plea agreement in his burglary case Thursday. Michael E. Armstrong, 31, of 235 E. Martin St., pleaded guilty to a felony three burglary charge in front of Judge David Tobin at the Columbiana Common Pleas Court. He originally had a felony two charge of burglary and pleaded not guilty. Armstrong can face one to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine. His sentencing is set for September 10 at 2:45 p.m.
Samantha Sisco, 20, of 16327 Tague Street in East Liverpool, was issued a continuance for her burglary case. Sisco is charged with second degree burglary charge along with a grand theft allegation of the fourth degree.
The jury trial was originally scheduled for July 20, but Judge Tobin granted the motion for continuance by Sisco's attorney and pushed the date back to Oct. 5 at 8:30 a.m. A status conference will be held on Oct. 1.
