NEW CUMBERLAND - Charles Richard Shuman, 82, of New Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926 in Sistersville, W.Va., a son of the late John and Mary Rice Shuman.
Shuman retired from Globe Brick, after working as a Kiln Fireman's Helper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Freeman Shuman and a sister, Ruth Wells.
He is survived by five brothers, Robert Shuman, Kenneth Shuman, and Donald (Ruth) Shuman of New Cumberland, Tom Shuman of East Liverpool, and Gene (Sue) Shuman of Pennsboro; a sister, Mildred (Charles) Riggleman of Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, with Pastor Carolyn Hardy officiating. Private interment will be held at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
