Common Pleas for 6-24
A woman who skipped out on her sentencing hearing last fall was sentenced to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center as part of her probation for stealing money from the insurance company where she worked.
Sheila Wesson, 34, of 129 Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, was taken into custody June 5 on the bench warrant issued last November by Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge David Tobin for the fourth-degree felony theft charge.
She was ordered to report July 13 to the EOCC, a prison-alternative facility for probationers. Tobin placed her on probation under community control for four years.
Court documents said Wesson was working at Beltempo Insurance in Salem when she received customer premium payments and failed to post them to the accounts, resulting in the theft of $8,625 from June 8, 2007 to Oct. 22, 2007.

Timothy Lewis, 54, of Summitville, pleaded guilty to burglary, a third-degree felony, and receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing Aug. 21. The burglary charge was originally a second-degree felony. Documents said Lewis sold two stolen chainsaws belonging to Edward Richards to two different persons in April 2008. He trespassed in the residence of Brian Wood on Main Street in Salineville on Aug. 17, 2008 and stole hunting and fishing equipment, documents said.
Nicholas Edwards, 19, of 142 1/2 W. Third St., Salem, was sentenced to six months in prison, with credit for 57 days already served, for complicity to breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. Documents said Edwards helped a co-defendant in a break-in at Sami Quick Stop on Second Street in Salem on Jan. 20, 2008 by taking stolen beer and cigarettes from the co-defendant as he handed them out the window he broke to gain entry. Edwards had been sentenced to 14 months in prison in February 2008, with 77 days credit, for a fourth-degree felony charge of assault for his attack on a Salem police officer on Jan. 10, 2007. Sgt. John Less was off work for several months due to the seriousness of the injuries, returned and now has left the force due to the injuries.
John Powell Sr., 44, of 1028 Ephriam St., East Liverpool, was sentenced to prison for six months for two counts of non-support of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, to be served at the same time as a sentence out of Juvenile Court. Documents said Powell failed to pay child support for one child from November 2002 to Sept. 24, 2008, with an accumulated arrearage of $24,344, and failed to pay for another child from Aug. 25, 2006 to Aug. 25, 2008, with an accumulated arrearage of $21,919.
Debra Reynolds, 34, of 810 St. John St., East Liverpool, was sentenced to six months in prison for receiving stolen property and forgery, both fifth-degree felonies, with credit for 10 days already served in jail. Documents said Reynolds had 10 credit cards belonging to Melissa Halulko on July 5, 2008 in East Liverpool and forged her signature on several charge receipts at the BP Unimart.
Brian Mint, 27, of 378 Lundy Ave., Salem, was placed on a treatment plan for five years after his motion for intervention in lieu of conviction was granted and he pleaded guilty to theft, a fourth-degree felony. He received credit for four days served in jail. Documents said Mint stole a vehicle belonging to Todd's Enviroscape from a Georgetown Road driveway in Homeworth on Aug. 30, striking a mailbox and fence before leaving the driveway and parking several doors down the road.
Clarence Kinder, 54, of 3393 Pinewood Drive, New Waterford, was placed on probation under community control for two years for operating a vehicle under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, but was ordered to serve 20 days in jail, with credit for nine days already served. His license was suspended for three years. Documents said he drove drunk in New Waterford on June 11, 2008.
Joseph Kellow, 30, of Massillon, was placed on probation under community control for three years for attempted forgery, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was originally charged with a felony forgery charge. Documents said Kellow forged magazine subscription cards for several magazines in the name of April Eversole of Hanoverton from November 2007 to January 2008.
Timothy Patrick, 24, whose last known address was Ashland, formerly of Wellsville, was ordered to serve six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center as part of his community control for receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. He was placed on probation for four years. Documents said Patrick and a co-defendant drove to Summitville Recycling in Salineville on Oct. 3, 2008 to sell 194 pounds of telephone wire stolen from AT&T. A domestic violence charge against him had been recently dropped.
Eric Mellinger, 37, of 241 Sherman St., Lisbon, was placed on probation under community control for four years for non-support of dependents. Documents said he failed to pay child support for one child from Sept. 1, 2006 to August 2008, with an accumulated arrearage of $10,675.
Paula Corradi, 54, of 640 Azalea Ave., East Liverpool, was placed on probation under community control for three years for two counts of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Documents said Corradi sold 20 tablets of hydrocodone and seven tablets of Alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, on East Sixth Street in Salem on May 1, 2008.
Justin Elkins, 21, of 2034 Ohio Ave., East Liverpool, was placed on a treatment plan for five years after a motion for treatment in lieu of conviction was granted and he pleaded guilty to burglary, a fourth-degree felony. Documents said Elkins trespassed in the residence of Ronald Boyd on Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool on Aug. 10, 2008.
James R. Smith, 37, of 1174 Harker Ave., East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing Aug. 28. Documents said Smith trespassed in Householder's Grocery in Wellsville on Nov. 2, 2008.
