An East Canton man is facing possible charges of receiving stolen property after an incident at Rogers Community Auction Friday afternoon. According to reports, Richard Prewitt, Akron, advised deputies he had reported stolen to Uniontown Police Department a trailer with a large amount of merchandise and while at the sale, saw a vendor selling sheets he believed were among the stolen items. When deputies arrived, the vendor, John M. Masters, 44, East Canton, was trying to leave, having sold all his remaining stock to another vendor for $250, according to reports. Masters told deputies he had purchased the merchandise for $300 from a Michigan couple he met from Craigslist and they were driving a truck, with no trailer. While deputies were there, Masters re-purchased the sheets from the other vendor and returned all he had earned during the day - $1,426 - to Prewitt. Masters was advised that as long as his story checked out, deputies would consider the matter closed, however, later in the day Friday, Uniontown police called to report they had found the stolen trailer at the home of Masters' father, Larry Masters, East Canton and he was in custody. The case will be presented to the Columbiana County grand jury for consideration of charges against John Masters.

William H. Strabala, 40, Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, was charged with domestic violence Saturday after his wife, Judy, reported she awoke to find him making unwanted sexual advances toward her after a party the previous evening in honor of their son, who is leaving for the military this week. She told him no, but Mr. Strabala got violent, she told deputies. Their other son intervened and was grabbed by the throat by Mr. Strabala, according to reports. Their son reportedly broke the chokehold his father had on his brother, and Mr. Strabala left, with his truck found at the end of the property. A deputy went into the woods, searching for Mr. Strabala, who then got into his truck and left, with a .22-caliber rifle reported missing from the home.
