COLUMBIANA COUNTY SHERIFF FOR 5-18
Renae Barley, state Route 172, Minerva, reported May 7 her Toyota was vandalized two months ago when someone took a hammer to the driver's side door of the car, leaving 14 dents.
A call was received at 10:38 p.m. Thursday from a resident near the area on state Route 45 in Madison Township near the Buckeye Industrial Mining property The caller reported people were drinking, shooting guns and speeding down a lane onto Route 45 and then peeling rubber before speeding back up the lane. A deputy arrived and parked off to the side, and within five minutes a pickup truck came speeding down the lane onto Route 45, peeling tires and then shooting back up the lane. The deputy followed the truck until arriving at a bonfire with several people around. He activated his lights and pulled the truck over and cited the driver - Zachary L. Wilson, 19, Cameron Road, Wellsville - for OVI, reckless operation and underage drinking. Wilson's passenger - Eric D. Rogers II, 18, Garner Avenue, East Liverpool - was cited for underage drinking.
Kym LaDany, East Lake Road, Guilford Lake, reported Thursday she began receiving uninvited calls that keep filling up her voice mail. The deputy called the person and left a message for him to call back.
Loretta Phillips, Westville Lake Road, Beloit, reported Thursday her swimming pool liner was cut and the pool pump damaged.
Dale Hammon, Signal Road, Fairfield Township, reported at 10 a.m. Thursday there was a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of his driveway. The vehicle was gone by the time the deputy arrived, but Hammon said the person may have been fishing. He was told to call back should the vehicle return.
Pam Gatrell reported Thursday a vacant home she owns and is for sale on Crawford Road, Wellsville, was found broken into. Missing was a TV, set of walkie talkies and some other items.
Debra Ewing, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, reported Wednesday her home was broken into, and stolen were a DVD player, computer tower and monitor, jewelry and coins.
A caller reported a domestic dispute on Cusick Road, Madison Township, at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, and the deputy arrived to find a man who said he had just gotten home and was playing with his children. The woman who lived there corroborated his story.
A motorist drove off from the Valero station on state Route 45, Lisbon, at 6 p.m. Saturday without paying for $35 in gasoline. The vehicle was a green Dodge Caravan but nothing came back on the license plate.
A deputy was called to a home on Georgetown Road, Salem, at 6:45 p.m. Saturday while Ann Courtney retrieved some of her personal belongings.
A deputy responded to a domestic dispute on West Egypt Road, Minerva, at 2:29 a.m. Sunday, where a man accused his girlfriend of scratching him on the neck, but the deputy didn't see any evidence of scratches. The girlfriend said she had a burn mark on her neck from a cigarette when the boyfriend grabbed, but the deputy didn't see any evidence of a burn. Both parties declined to press charges, and the girlfriend was given a ride to her parents' home.
A loud music complaint was received on Buffalo Road, East Rochester, at 12:27 a.m. Saturday. The deputy determined it was coming from Knox School Road, and the person responsible agreed to turn down the music.
A report was received of gunshots on Metz Road, Fairfield Township, at 1:37 a.m. Sunday, but nothing was found.
A report was received of two males with a large black case walking along Middleton Road in Fairfield Township at 12:53 a.m. Sunday. The deputy was unable to find the two.
Assault charges were filed against James C. Hurst, 36, Market Street, East Liverpool, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Jennifer S. Ramsey, at a friend's home on Clarks Mill Road, Salineville, on Saturday evening. Ramsey 31, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, was treated at the East Liverpool City Hospital emergency room.
A report was received of shots fired in the 3500 block of state Route 45, Salem, at 10 p.m. Saturday, but nothing was found.
Fannie Roberts, Watt Street, Minerva, reported Thursday three guns were taken from her residence. The report didn't say whether her home had been broken into.
A woman who lives on Kelly Park Road, Columbiana, called a deputy to her home at 2:40 p.m. Saturday after her husband reportedly pinned her down to take the cell phone from her, which he broke. While she was upstairs with the children, the husband reportedly began banging a meat cleaver on the counter before leaving.
Harold Woods, U.S. Route 30, Minerva, reported Saturday his 9mm handgun was missing from his garage, and he has a suspect in mind.
Stacey Amatangelo of Copley reported Saturday the catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle while she was visiting her in-laws on Mountz Road, Knox Township.
Deputies responded to a Bye Road residence in East Palestine at 2:35 p.m. Thursday for a 911 hangup call, but learned from the owner the phone company had been working on the phone lines. There was no problem at the residence.
A Salem man on Gromley Road reported at 12:05 p.m. Thursday that someone stole his mailbox from its post.
A Lisbon woman on Steubenville Pike Road reported at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday that her brother had a fight with his girlfriend and took her prescribed sleeping pills and took her truck without permission. She didn't want anything done about him taking the truck, but was worried about his well-being.
A Lisbon woman on Allen Drive reported at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday that someone entered her residence and stole an IPOD and 19-inch flat screen television from her daughter's room.
