HOOKSTOWN, Pa. - Benjamin Woodard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Woodard of Greene Township, Hookstown, Pa., is a senior at South Side High School. He has been selected the April Student of the Month by the South Side Education Association.
During his high school career, Woodard participated in World Affairs, National Honors Society, Model United Nations Team, Student Athlete Leader, and Student Council. He received Distinguished Honors, Letters in Varsity Soccer, Captain senior year, participated in Track and Field and Winter Soccer. He was an Ambassador on the Czech Republic trip, as well as a member of two mission trips to Louisiana and Cincinatti sponsored by his church.
Woodard plans to attend Grove City College and major in Christian Thought.
EAST LIVERPOOL - Morgan Campbell has been named the Merit Award Winner for the month of May at the East Liverpool Middle School. Campbell, an 8th grade student, is the daughter of Scott and Trudy Campbell of East Liverpool.
A member of the middle school volleyball team, she is also involved in the recycling program and the yearbook staff. She serves as a peer tutor and is a member of Potters Leading Other Youth (PLOY).
Campbell participates in Junior Olympic volleyball, volunteers with the Point of Light, and is a member of the youth group at the First Free Methodist Church. She is a volunteer in the nursery at the church.
According to her nominating teacher, "Morgan is an excellent student who experiences all aspects of the school setting. She is involved in numerous activities both during and after school. She was the student responsible for implementing our recycling program at East Liverpool Middle School."
CHESTER - Rebecca Beabout, daughter of Paul and Jo Ellen Beabout of Chester, will be graduating from West Liberty State College on May 9, 2009 with a degree in Music Education.
She is the treasurer of her Sorority Kappa Phi., and principle flute for West Liberty Wood-wind En-semble. She is a member of West Liberty's Pep Band, Pittsburgh Flute Club, Wheeling Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Pittsburgh's City Flutes.
Her accomplishments with her music include Senior Flute Recital performing works from, Debussy, Mozart, Vivaldi, Poulenc, and Schocker. She won the 2nd annual concert competitions performing Mozart's Concerto in G for flute and orchestra.
Beabout is a woodwind instructor for high school marching bands in Ohio and West Virginia, Solo and Ensemble Assistant Adjudicator, as well as Tri-State Honor's Band Assistant. Her future plans are to teach music and continue with her Masters and Performing Arts Degree.
