Fannie M. Grodhaus, 75

SALINEVILLE - Fannie M. Grodhaus, 75, of Salineville, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at home.

She was born July 10, 1933, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Arngie and Goldie (Partin) Howell.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Grodhaus on May 22, 1987, whom she married Aug. 23, 1951. Mrs. Grodhaus was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Howell and Bill Howell.

Mrs. Grodhaus graduated from Wellsville High School in 1951. After high school she attended business college. She was a piece worker for Sterling China for 26 years before retiring in 1995. Fannie loved Christmas and her favorite hobby was shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and buying presents for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved to cook and bake for her entire family, especially around the holidays.

Fannie is survived by two daughters, Sondra Backus, and her husband Richard, of Lisbon, and Pat Thomas, and her husband Gary, of Salineville; two sons, Richard C. Grodhaus of Wellsville, and Denny Grodhaus, and his wife Brenda, of Lisbon; two sisters, Nedra Buchanan and Jean Cataldo, both of East Liverpool; one brother, Frank Howell, and his wife Lois, of Napolean, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Rick Backus, Steve Backus, Kevin Backus, Nikki Lewis and her husband Chris, Jake Thomas and his wife Michelle, Holly Thomas, Marci Higgins and her husband J.T., Mathew Grodhaus, Jacob Grodhaus, Connor Wisbith, Tisha Harrison and her significant other Michael, and James Harrison; and 14 great-grandchildren, Dylon Backus, Conner Lewis, Kennedy Lewis, Lincoln Thomas, Jacob Roush, Jordan Roush, Lisa Higgins, Seth Harrison, Adam Harrison, Evan Harrison, Zach Harrison, Destiny Evans, Devon Evans, and Addison Miller.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St., Wellsville.
