Leona M. Wendling, 95
CANTON - Leona M. Wendling, age 95 of Canton, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Aultman Hospital following a recent illness. Leona was born May 1, 1913, in Irondale, Ohio, to the late George and Caroline (McBain) Saltsman. In her younger years, Leona enjoyed traveling to Canada, bowling and playing cards. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she cherished and was very proud of.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Lois J. (Richard) Golden of Louisville; son, James (Margaret) Wendling of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren, Robin (James) Fabian of Steubenville, Jill (Paul) Ujcich of Carrollton, Curtis Wendling and Danny Owens of Greensburg, Ind., William (Maurya) Wendling of Carmel, Ind., and John (Kristi) Golden of East Canton; and five great-grandchildren, Katrina Fabian, Carlo Fabian, John C.M. Golden, Calvin Wendling and Samuel Wendling.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Wendling who passed away in 1988; son, William Edward Wendling who passed away in 1955; and sister, Hilda Hutchinson who passed away in 1982.
Funeral services for Leona will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Leona's family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Crystal Park United Methodist Church.
