Carter highlights East All-District list
Review Staff ReportsCOLUMBUS - Wellsville's Jeremy Carter was chosen to the East All-District first team, highlighting over 20 players to make the list.
"(Carter) is a student of the game,"?Wellsville coach Dave Skinner said. "He's a great teammate. He's got the dog in him. When the going gets tough, the dog comes out in him. I wouldn't trade him for anybody."
Carter, a junior, made the Div. VI team based on his prowess on the defensive side of the ball from the safety position, but his offensive numbers were also impressive.
Carter finished with nearly 600 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns as well as throwing for over 300 yards and two more scores.
Other Wellsville players making the squad were Bubba Dowling (offensive back), Greg Rayburn (offensive lineman) and Ryan Crabtree (defensive lineman), all who were named to the second team.
Wellsville's Deshon Pullie was given special mention.
In Div. II, Edison wide receiver Mark Rodgers made the first team after hauling in 32 passes for 493 yards and eight touchdowns.
Jared Carter, Nick Davidson, Jacob Busana, Dustin Byers, Daniel Dunlevy, Brent Snider, Gavin Smith and Doren Thomas were all given special mention from the Wildcats.
Beaver Local's Shawn Mercer was chosen to the second team defense after leading the Beavers in tackles this season.
Mercer was also the starting quarterback.
Dustin Sprouse, Nick Marshall were given special mention for Beaver Local.
For the Potters, Jason Bahen, Ethan Ludwig, Brian Potts and John Watkins were all given special mention.
The NE Inland team will be released next Friday.
