Jean Steffen, 77

WELLSVILLE Doris Jean Steffen, 77, of Broadway died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Salem Community Hospital.

Born Aug. 16, 1931, in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late James Moor and Julia Dimmerling, she was a lifetime area resident.

A 1950 graduate of East Liverpool High School, she worked as a secretary at American Paper Products in East Liverpool, at Ferro Louthan in East Liverpool and then as a legal secretary for Attorney Delmar O'Hara.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Golden Links Senior Citizens.

Surviving at home is her husband, Earl G. Steffen, whom she married Dec. 30, 1950.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Steffen and his wife, Merabeth, of Rogers, and Daniel Steffen of Wellsville; and three daughters, Laurie Watkins and her husband, Scott, of Wellsville, Kelly Crews and her husband, Timothy, of Shanghai, China, and Peggy Ciccarelli and her husband, Anthony, of North Canton, Ohio.

There are 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Sisters surviving her are Jacqueline Roberts and her husband, Frank, of Wellsville, Janet Yost of Grants Pass, Ore., and Joan Garcia and her husband, Abe, of Las Vegas, Nev.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Moor and a sister, Virginia "Peggy" Moor, and her stepfather James Dimmerling.

She also is survived by her beloved cat, Miss Tilly.

The Rev. Fr. Bernard Gaeta is to conduct services at the church Monday at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
