Beavers top Big Red in four
Review Staff ReportsSTEUBENVILLE - Despite faltering in the second set of the match, the Beaver Local volleyball team was able to stay on track and record a victory at Steubenville Wednesday, downing Big Red 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 25-12.
For coach Walter Anchors, the match became a game of chess after his squad dropped the second set by five points.
"I think they got tired and frustrated," he said of the Steubenville squad. "We made some adjustments to what they did ... they were just tired by the fourth game."
Chelsea Roberts led the Beavers charge, recording 17 points serving. Brittany Barrett added 25 digs, while Megan Campbell notched 33 assists.
Jessica McGeehan added 15 kills along with 13 digs.
The junior varsity also got a win, downing Steubenville 25-15, 25-22. Erin Hall led all players with 10 points. The freshman squad also got involved in the action, topping Columbiana 25-15, 13-25, 25-11 to earn their first win of the year.
The varsity will be back in action today at home against Howland.
