She was born in Industry, Pa., on Oct. 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Edward Campbell and Margaret (Lamp) Campbell Smith. With the exception of visiting with her children, she spent her entire life in this area as a homemaker and belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death in 1988, by her husband Ronald E. Boyd Sr. They were married on June 11, 1937.
Survivors include seven sons: Ronald E. and Sena Boyd Jr. of Dunbar, Pa., William C and Deloris Boyd of Calcutta, Robert E. Boyd of East Liverpool, David J. and Sue Boyd of Auburndale, Fla., Donald E. and Ella Boyd of Gaffney, S.C., John I. and Peggy Boyd of Gaffney, S.C., and Joseph A. and Kathaleen Boyd of East Liverpool. Four daughters: Margaret H. Holler of Winter Haven, Fla., Sylvia F. and Wesley Roe of Winter Haven Fla., Marion R. Melott of Gaffney, S.C., and JoAnn and Jess Prinkey of Auburndale, Fla. One brother, Hugh Lloyd Smith of East Liverpool, and two sisters: Betty Birch of Lisbon and Silvia George of Rogers. She is also survived by 51 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren,
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by three brothers: Bensley Smith, Clyde Campbell and Edward Campbell; one sister: Ruth Figley; and four stepbrothers: Fred Smith, Willis Smith, Benny Smith, and Pershing Smith.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. with her son, Pastor Ronald E. Boyd Jr., leading the services. Burial will follow in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
