Born in Waldenburg, Schlesien, Germany on Oct. 1, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Heinrich and Selma Spatscheck Krause. She married her beloved husband, Hans, on Oct. 22, 1934, and they moved to East Liverpool together in 1939. After Hans’ death in December 1994, she moved to Vermont to live with her daughter, Barbara. Hanna (known as Oma to most) loved family, cooking, watching television (especially Days of Our Lives), and knitting, outfitting numerous friends and family members with beautiful sweaters.
Hanna is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Hacker) Gilmore and her husband, James, of South Burlington, and her son, Peter K. Hacker and his wife, Patricia, of Hayward, Calif,, and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Hanna and Hans were preceded in death by their son, Ulrich.
Services will be held in the Riverview Cemetery Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, with the Pastor Paul Burgeson of St. John Lutheran Church. The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
