He grew up in the south end of Louisville and moved in 1978 to East Liverpool, where he worked for 25 years as a employee for Al Hissom Roofing and Construction Co. He recently relocated back to the Louisville area and was hospitalized at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital due to cancer.
William “Bill” was a kind-hearted person, always willing to help others and bring laughter to the hearts of his family, friends, and even strangers.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Isaiah Ridgley.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy Marie (Hissom) Porter; two daughters, Erika Lewis (Jake) and Rebecca Ridgley (Gary); a son, Jeremy; two brothers, Steve P. Porter (Janet) and Darrell W. Porter (Nancy); a sister, Carol A. Hardin; and four grandchildren, Leeanne, Sammy, Ethan and Jakson.
A Celebration Funeral Mass is being held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Aloysius Church, with the Mass being officiated by Father Bernard N. Gaeta.
Burial immediately following mass at Riverview Cemetery. The family chose cremation.
