ELCS ends year with a victory

YOUNGSTOWN — The Warriors finished their season on a high note. The East Liverpool Christian School tennis team blanked Ursuline, 5-0, Thursday on the road in its final match of the season.
“If was definitely the best season we’ve ever had,” ELCS coach Cami Hill said. “The seniors played well and the younger players stepped in and played well above what I expected. I’m already looking forward to next season.”
The win moves the Warriors final record to 14-3.
Jordan Waterfill and Justin White pulled out three-set victories in No. 1 and No. 2 singles play, while Brady Winland won by a combined 12-0 at No. 3 singles.
Chase Capito combined with Chris Miller at No. 1 doubles and Joey Reed and Lexi Hill at No. 2 doubles as ELCS completed the sweep.
In junior varsity action, Josh Smith defeated Evan Sanders, 6-1, 6-2.
