EAST LIVERPOOL – Cathy Harris Miller, 46, of Ohio Avenue, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the East Liverpool City Hospital, following a long illness.

A daughter of Don Harris of East Liverpool and Betty Kiernan of East Liverpool, she resided in this area most of her life.

Cathy came into our lives Feb. 4, 1962, the last of five children, Cheryl, Donnie, Cindy and Becky. She was a whirlwind free spirit who always walked to her own drummer. In younger years, she ran track and raced motorcycles. She also took care of her long time friend Darrell when others would tease him.

She lived and worked in Knoxville, Tenn., for many years, traveling to Germany, where she learned how tanning beds worked when they were first invented. She returned to East Liverpool, but became very ill. She loved to have her nieces come and bring their little ones to visit.

She had recently moved into a new home where she could lay in bed in the mornings and see and hear the ducks and geese on the river as they all awakened. She would enjoy her coffee there, along with her two long time friends with fur, Snowy and Darien, two kitties who were always with her as well as her dog Missy.

She leaves behind a stepfather, Brian, and stepmother Patty, and another big love of her life, a brother, Sean Michael. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, whom she loved dearly; her friend and housemate, Todd and his friend Alysia, who were there daily for her; and her long time friend, Franny Williams.

She always saw the good in people no matter what happened. She loved her two caregivers, Debbie and Pat, who helped her along the way.

By her passing, our lives will be changed forever, but we know she will be dancing with her sister Becky, grandparents and aunties who were waiting for her.

Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m., where Cathy’s cousin, Tracie Swartz, will lead words of comfort.

Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.

Anyone who would like to join the family in a celebration of Cathy’s life may do so after the services at the home of her sister, Cheryl and her companion Jim, at 634 River Road, East Liverpool.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of CHAT for Animals, P.O. Box 488, East Liverpool, Ohio or the Columbiana County Dog Pound, 8455 County Home Road, Lisbon, Ohio.
