Charles William Casto, 77

SEMINOLE, Fla. — Charles William Casto, 77, formerly of Chester, died peacefully on May 2, 2008, at his home in Seminole, Fla., surrounded by loving family and friends following a lengthy illness. He was born in Amity, Pa., April 12, 1931. The son of the late Rufus A. Casto and Anna I. (Boone) Casto (Walker); and stepfather Roy Walker.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 55 years, Delores E. (Staley) Casto; a daughter Dana S. (Casto) Picciarelli and husband Thomas; a son Charles A. Casto and wife Beverley (Shepherd) Casto. He will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren; Toni L.(Picciarelli) Snyder and husband Mark; Jerry and Daniel Picciarelli; Jessica and Matthew Casto; two great-grandchildren; Mark and Zachary Snyder; and a sister Anne L.(Casto) Gallo and her family.

Charles served in the United States Army during the post WWII period, (1948-1952), serving with the 24th Constabulary Squadron, B-Troop. The 24th Constabulary provided the U.S. Military border security between the U.S. and Russian occupations lines. They were disbanded after the development of NATO. Additionally, he was a member of the U.S. Constabulary Association; Grant District Burial Group; American Legion Post 121 where he served as Vice Commander and Commander; VFW Post 6450; and the Chester Volunteer Fire Department where he served as an Assistant Fire Chief for many years until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Casto was employed with Sinclair Koppers for 20 years and retired from Quaker State Oil Refinery in 1991.

Memorial service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fla.
