Bulldogs had a great season
SALEM — For a change, East Palestine came into a game as the underdog. Campell Memorial forced 20 turnovers to turn over the Bulldogs, 61-43, in a Salem Division III district semifinal Tuesday. The Bulldogs finished the season at 18-4 and ran off 14 straight wins in the Inter-Tri County League upper tier to repeat as league champion. “People don’t realize how difficult it is to win again when you are supposed to,” East Palestine coach Tom Bingham said. The Bulldogs’ losses came to Youngstown Mooney, Youngstown Christian, Brookfield and, of course, Campbell Memorial. “I thought we had a great season,” Bingham said. “The kids shouldn’t be disappointed with the season. Obviously, they are disappointed with the loss tonight.” Next season East Palestine loses senior starters in Ben Gysin, Austin Cope, Trevor Reiser and Trevor Patterson. They accounted for 84 percent of the Bulldogs’ scoring and the team will fill in the holes. “It happens every year,” Bingham sai.
