Keeping an eye on Pittsburgh
Finally. For fans of Pittsburgh-based sports teams, September never seems to come quick enough. The Pirates are mired in another losing season (16 straight if you’re counting), and frankly I’m just not interested anymore. But, alas, the Steelers are back for another run at greatness. Here’s some things to look for from the Steelers in 2008: The Steelers are a franchise known for defense, but the offense may have to carry the team this season. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is known as a pass-happy coach, but last year he relied heavily on the run although it often came out of less than typical formations. Arians also believes in throwing the ball deep on a regular basis in order to stretch opposing defenses. He should be able to do that with Ben Roethlisberger and a fantastic group of receivers. Big Ben is coming off his best season, a huge contract extension and Pittsburgh will probably go as far as his arm can take them.
