Roxie, 10-months, has an ear up on the competition. Lorrie Byo, shelter director, said Roxie, a lab mix, is known as “Miss Personality” around the shelter because her left ear always stands up. Her kennel mate is Tootsie, a 2-year-old lab mix who doesn’t like to be left home alone.

Dylan and Apollo are among the many cats and dogs available for adoption at the shelter. They are friendly and clamor for the attention of anyone who will pet them or play with them. They have adapted well to shelter life, but like the other cats and dogs at the shelter, would do much better in a loving home, said Lorrie Byo, shelter director. They have become inseparable and need to be adopted together, she said. April, a shepherd mix featured in a photo in Monday’s Review promoting this story, was adopted Monday by a woman who said the dog reminded her of her dog she had that died three years ago. Byo said the woman called about April, came to the shelter and “it was love at first sight.
