Horse Show

NEW CUMBERLAND - The first show in a series of three summer series horse shows is being held Sunday, June 1 at 4-H Camp Aura, Ross Road, Hardins Run, New Cumberland, W.Va. This show will start at 10 a.m. The series is sponsored by the Sundowners 4-H Saddle Club and proceeds will benefit the club. Points will be accumulated for all three shows with high points awarded at the conclusion of the series. The other show dates are July 13 and August 10. The show will begin at 10 a.m. with five 10 years and under classes. These classes include Walk-Trot, Texas keyhole, Egg and Spoon, straight barrels and leadline. All riders for these classes must be 10 and under. Exhibition barrels will follow the 10 and under classes with performance classes beginning at 1 p.m. Performance classes include Texas keyhole, down and back, straight barrels, poles, cloverleaf barrels, and stakebend. Ribbons for 5 places will be awarded for all classes, while classes with over 8 entries will also receive cash payback. Added money classes will be awarded the added money plus 70 % of the entry fees. All entrants under the age of 18 must wear protective headgear. Refreshments will be available on the grounds.
