| | Pavlik has eye on Sigmon, futureJune 7, 2012 - Paul EdgarYoungstown boxer Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik is set to headline an ESPN2 Friday Night Fights card June 8 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Pavlik (38-2, 33 KO) will face Lynchburg, Virginia's Scott Sigmon (22-3, 12 KO) in a scheduled 10-round super middleweight fight. While not a known commodity in the boxing world, Sigmon is a fighter who has been active (averaging six fights per year) and is durable (has yet to suffer a knockout). The fact that the bout is taking place in Vegas on the eve of the Pacquiao-Bradley pay-per-view fight will provide Pavlik with some needed exposure. If, as most all expect, Pavlik handles Sigmon, there are big fights out there for the former middleweight king. This fight also marks the second for Pavlik since parting ways with longtime trainer Jack Loew. Pavlik is now working with renowned trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California. While much is still to be determined, it appears Pavlik is on the fast track to regaining his spot among the sport's best fighters, but only time will tell. Until next time, I'm throwing in the towel. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
