Must-see TV

November 18, 2011 - Paul Edgar
If you missed last Saturday's James Kirkland-Alfredo Angulo fight on HBO, you missed out big time. Unbelievable action! Kirkland, 27, of Austin, Texas, was knocked down by a straight right from Angluo, 29, of Mexico, just 30 seconds into the bout. Angulo went for broke, unleashing a massive barrage of punches over the next 60 seconds to try and finish Kirkland. It didn't work. Angulo punched himself out, Kirkland got his legs back, and the fight quickly turned in Kirkland's favor. In the final seconds of the first round, Kirkland had Angulo in big trouble, dropping him for the first time in his career, but Angulo was saved by the bell. Angulo, with great heart and a tough chin, tried to remain competitive over the next several rounds, but he had nothing left and was taking a massive amount of punishment before referee Johnny Callas stopped the fight at two minutes of the sixth round. If you missed it, check it out. It's a must-see. Both fighters deserve a big payday in the future based on their performances in this bout. Until next time, I'm throwing in the towel.
