Real American values
Earlier this week, Sen. Lindsey Graham states “America is an idea, not a race.” I agree with the sentiment in his statement 100 percent, and in accordance, I’d like to quote from a famous poem that is now in the Statue of Liberty’s museum.
Emma Lazarus’ poem, “The New Colossus”, is as timely today as it was when first published.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddles masses yearning to be free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
