Honoring a veteran
I would like to thank the family, friends and fellow veterans who came to honor George (Hap) Talbott on his 90th birthday party and watch him receive medals he earned from WWII.
I would like to also thank Mr. James Bailey from Brilliant, Ohio, who is a member of the executive board of Disabled Veterans of America, State of Ohio, who spoke of Hap’s accomplishments during his time of service, then presented him his medals.
I would like to thank the following organizations for their donations who helped make this possible: D.A.V. Chapter 47 and Auxiliary; VFW Post 66 Men’s Auxiliary; Post 374; Sons of the Legion, Post 374; American Legion Riders; Vietnam Veterans 1064, East Liverpool; and Salineville American Legion Post 442. Plus a thanks to the good Lord for letting the eagle fly up the creek just as the medal ceremony was getting started.
A special thanks to my niece, Lisa Fix, who got the medals, and cousin Dana Merriman, who organized the party. Great job.
Thanks for The Review and Channel 33 News for covering this event.
Again thanks to all who attended and helped make this a day Uncle Hap will forever remember.
