“Rock the Park,” Thompson Park’s thank you gift to the community, was a wonderful event and it couldn’t have happened were it not for the many people who worked very hard to make it a success.
Park Superintendent JC Blackhurst and his wife, Tisa, worked tirelessly to put the event together. It was no small task in addition to his regular park duties. Assistant superintendent Dave Quarterman also put in many long hours.
Many businesses and individuals donated cash and raffle items. Special thanks go to Kat Ammon, Dave Morgan, Joe Wells (along with his family and friends), Cody Gibson and Doug Smith for generously donating their time and considerable talents for the afternoon’s entertainment.
Thompson Park board member Samantha Kinemond and her mother, Nancy Martin, delighted the children with face painting. And Gary Amos kept the children entertained with balloon figures.
Jane and Jeff Miller put in an incredible contribution of time and effort, as well serving up nearly 400 hot dogs!
And Kenley Blackhurst did a great job on signs for the event.
But most of all, a huge thanks must go out to the many, many people who every day logged onto their computers and other electronic devices to vote for Thompson Park in Coca-Cola’s “Take It To The Park” contest.
Even if Thompson Park finishes out of the prize money, it was both wonderful and gratifying to see so many people come together to support the park and rally around a positive cause.
And there are now hundreds of people throughout this great country of ours who know that there are a lot of people who care very much about a little park in a little town in Ohio.
